Medical Information

I'm not a veterinarian!  I only know what I have tried in the past, and what works for me and my rabbits.

Stains on white rabbits - caused by urine or rust on the wire of the cage.
Keeping Urine smells to a minimum.
Weanling Enteritis - Symptoms - runny stool, lethargic.
Wool Blockage - Symptoms are very small or no stool.  Not eating and lethargic.
Wry neck - Symptoms include tilting of the head causing the body to flip over.

Urine Smells - Can cause sickness and watery eyes.

The best way to keep the smell under control is to keep the cages as clean as possible.

Or you can -
#1 - Mix White Vinegar with water 50/50 and put it in a spray bottle. Spray on the tray's.  The vinegar will neutralize the ammonia in the urine causing the smell to decrease.

Wry neck - Symptoms include tilting of the head causing the body to flip over.

I have had the best luck taking them to the vet and giving them cortizone injections.  This can be expensive so use your own judgment.
#1 - Tetracycline drops in the ears.  1 to 2 drops twice daily for the first 3 days and once daily for 7 more days.

#2 - Pen G 3cc for the first and second day, 2cc’s for the third and fourth, and 1 cc on the 5th.

#3 - Tylan 50 (for cattle) (Tylosin) ½ cc in muscle until all symptoms are gone. I have not tried this but heard that it works.

Give them a next box or something of the equivalent.  So that they won't flip over and hurt themselves.  This will help them stabilize themselves.

Stains on white rabbits - caused by urine or rust on the wire of the cage.

#1 - Mix peroxide and cornstarch together and make a paste.  Apply to affected area with and old tooth brush and let dry 10-20 minutes. Don't forget the bottom of the feet.  Brush off.  Try to keep the bunny busy so that they don't lick it all off.

#2 - Mix Vinegar and Water 50/50.  Add cornstarch to make a paste.  Apply to coat allow to dry.  Brush off.  Remember vinegar neutralizes urine so take a spray bottle along to shows with you.

#3 - Put peroxide in a spray bottle spray it on the fur.  If it's really bad start doing this once a day for 3 day's before a show.

Weanling Enteritis - Symptoms - runny stool, lethargic.

#1 - Burnt toast - very dark.
#2 - Black Tea - cooled. Replace their water with this.

You must treat this right away or the babies will die.  This usually occurs when the mother weans the babies too soon and the digestive system is not yet ready for an adult diet.  I have not lost a baby yet with tea and toast.
